Polo - The Basics......

Please visit http://www.polo.co.uk/polo_guide.htm for a great polo guide.

You may also wish to visit http://www.sportpolo.com which is another good guide
geared to US polo though.
Polo Lessons......

San Roque Polo Club also offers polo lessons for people who are interested in trying
the game of polo, or for advanced beginners seeking to build on their basic skills.

Beginner lessons include:

- Basic polo theory
- Foot mallet practice (offside forehand, backhand and nearside forehand, backhand)
- Wooden horse practice
- Polo riding (on horse)
- Polo Practice (on horse)

Usually a set of 7 or 8 lessons is sufficient to be able to take part in practice chukkars
(this is presuming that the client knows how to ride beforehand, although riding lessons
are available.) Make-up of each lesson is variable according to natural skills. Practice 'mini'
chukkars can be arranged by the club.

Lessons are approximately one hour in length, usually consisting of half an hour on
horse back and the rest including theory, foot mallets etc.

** All equipment including helmets and horses are supplied by us **

Prices:

Riding lesson (1 hour) -Lm 3.00
Single Polo lesson - Lm 5.00
Block of 8 Polo lessons - Lm 35.00 (save Lm 5.00)

A Lm 3.00 half-hour soft-canter Practice lesson is also available for advanced beginners who have completed the basic lessons and only require 'stick and ball' practice.

**again equipment is supplied by us.**

Foreigners may ask- Why so cheap?
Quite simply polo is inexpensive in Malta when compared to Europe. Also we would rather have
more people playing than trying to make money from lessons. We would like our 'students' to go
on and become members of our club also.
